‘Julie Tearjerky’ and ‘Maselang Bahaghari’ are among my favorite Eraserheads hits since time immemorial (Now I regret doing this title-dropping since I have a long long list at the back of my head). Despite the material scarcity during my growing-up years, I still managed to get by with the smile rolllercoaster journey of E-Heads to wherever they have come so far. At an early age, I was christened as an E-Heads solid fan. And I believe that. It's destined, perhaps.
I’m one of those thousand fans out there who can’t seem to get over these 90s royalty days-- guilty of committing that act of playing the group’s timeless LPs, lethally addicted to the same E-Heads songs all over again. In fact, the group's tracks were my first downloads when I bought my hard-earned laptop. It has become a tradition that these singles are my default background tunes when I've got nothing else to play, at times I've got nothing else to dream about. And occasionally, the E-Heads sound is the alarm tone of my phone alarm clock.
The E-heads’ sound never fails to clutch me with nostalgia, holding with a tight grip at that feeling of having something so near and dear despite the fact that the band has already.. faded away. Admit it, having these group's music that worked such a huge part on the local music history, we are still hoping for them to turn the wheels around, fix things up, leave the differences behind... and.. volt in for another try.
Meanwhile, setting that missing thing aside, I feel unhappy about this insanely lame idea of shitting E-Heads’ name through that newest tribute shit. Paradoxically, I have this even worse feeling of knowing that E-Heads are having a series of reunion concerts (much as I wanted them to reunite). It's confirmed, they are having reunion concerts. I'm supposed to be happy at this thought but I'm not because unfortunately, it's not for us people of/in the Philippines. Wasak ang maselang bahaghari sa aking isipan. They will be performing beyond the borders of our beloved 7107 islands. And they are heading to North America. :(
So will there be a part 3 reunion concert on Manila soon? I don't think so. Though, my fingers are very much crossed.

ReplyDeleteO'nga. naluluha parin ako sa vid ng huling El Bimbo lalo na pag pinapanood ko siya mag-isa sa madaling araw. Yan na siguro ang pinakamagandang MV sa kasaysayan ng local music industry.
